Bereavement ministry is an important component of pastoral care at St. Elizabeth Church. St. Elizabeth bereavement support groups provide a prayerful, non-threatening and safe environment where participants can address their feelings of grief in the company of others who have lived through similar experiences. Each group is facilitated by three volunteers trained at Holy Cross Hospital’s Home Care and Hospice Center.
If you have experienced the loss of a parent, spouse, sibling, adult child, or significant other, and feel the need for support to help work through your grief, we invite you to consider participating in a bereavement support group at St. Elizabeth. Bereavement support groups are most effective for those whose loss occurred at least 8 weeks prior to the beginning of the group.
Our groups are offered online using the Zoom format, enabling you to participate from the privacy and comfort of your own home. Groups run for eight consecutive Thursday evenings from 7:00pm – 8:30pm. Groups are offered twice each year, once in the spring and once in the fall.
We're offering a spring eight-week bereavement support group series for adults who have experienced the death of a parent, spouse or significant other. The sessions will be held virtually using the Zoom format. The spring series will meet Thursday evenings at 7:00 – 8:30pm, from April 3 – May 29.
There is no charge to participate. However, space is limited and participants must register in advance. To register, or request additional information, please contact either Kevin Byrne at 301-325-1796 ([email protected]) or Claudia McAuliffe at 301- 881-1457 ([email protected]).
